Recycling and the Civil War

Appeal for blankets during the Civil War

The Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Solid Waste has been working on a project looking at the importance of recycling during the Civil War. Their research has uncovered a wealth of information on the way materials like paper, metal and textiles were reused on the battlefield and back at home. Now you can see what they have been working on. Stop in and see the new display in the lobby of City Hall or visit our new webpage. Keep recycling – it’s part of our history!
